Why I’m Thinking About Teaching What I Know (Even As I Keep Learning)

by Henrik Bacilieri

It’s been just over a year since I first got serious about finance. I’ve landed clients, managed real money, seen market dips, and learned from mentors who are a decade or more ahead of me.

But lately, I’ve felt something new stirring:
A desire to share what I’ve learned—not just with clients, but with people who are where I was just a year ago.

I’m not an expert yet. I’m not “there.”
But maybe that’s the point.

🧱 Why Bother Teaching This Early?

There’s a part of me that still doubts whether I’ve earned the right to teach.
But then I think back to last year—living in Ohio, broke, unsure, Googling “how do stocks work” at midnight.

What I needed then wasn’t a Wall Street executive or a PhD in finance.
I needed someone a few steps ahead of me.
Someone who could explain things in plain language.
Someone who looked like progress but still remembered the starting line.

And now, maybe I can be that person for someone else.

💡 The Topics I Keep Getting Asked About

Over the last few months, friends and acquaintances have started reaching out. Not in huge numbers—but enough to notice.

They ask things like:

  • “How do I actually start budgeting when I only make $2,000 a month?”

  • “What’s the safest way to invest without losing it all?”

  • “Is crypto just hype, or should I care?”

  • “How much should I have saved before I invest?”

  • “What books or YouTubers do you trust?”

These aren’t technical questions. They’re entry points.
And they remind me how confusing this world feels from the outside.

👥 Who I Want to Help

I’m not looking to teach the ultra-rich how to optimize tax shelters.

I want to reach:

  • People with their first job and no clue what a 401(k) even is

  • College students who think $100 is “too little” to invest

  • Young families trying to get out of paycheck-to-paycheck mode

  • Immigrants, like me, figuring it out with no financial blueprint

They don’t need a lecture. They need a guide.

✍️ What I’m Thinking About Doing

I haven’t settled on anything yet. No fancy launches.
But I’ve started outlining things I wish I’d known when I got started.

Things like:

  • What to do with your first $1,000

  • How to automate your savings

  • The psychology of money and avoiding emotional decisions

  • Avoiding lifestyle inflation as income grows

  • Building wealth slowly, without hype

It might turn into blog posts. Or a free PDF. Or just something I send to people who ask.
But it feels right to start sharing more intentionally.

🔁 Teaching to Learn

The truth is, when I write or explain something, I understand it better.
Teaching sharpens me. It reveals gaps in my own knowledge.

So this isn’t just about giving back.
It’s about growing through giving back.

If you’re reading this and you’re early on your journey—just know, I’ve been there.
I still am in many ways.

But one step at a time, the fog clears.
And when it does, we reach back.
