$8 Million, a Full Calendar, and a New Chapter

by Henrik Bacilieri

It’s been a while since I sat down to write.

Not because I forgot. Not because I stopped caring about the process.
But because life—real, full, complex life—has been moving fast.

As of this month, the total portfolio I manage has officially crossed $8 million.
That number still humbles me every time I see it.
I remember when $30,000 felt like an enormous responsibility. Now, I’m handling accounts in the hundreds of thousands—and more—and the weight of it has only deepened my respect for this work.

This post is long overdue. So I want to catch you up—not just on the money, but on the life behind the numbers.

From Portfolio Building to Portfolio Stewardship

In the early days, most of my time went into finding clients, building trust, and proving my value.
Now, the focus has shifted. I’m no longer just building portfolios—I’m stewarding them.

It means deeper strategy conversations, higher expectations, more customization, more frequent check-ins.
It means clients calling me at 7:30 a.m. on a Monday or texting at 9:45 p.m. when they’re nervous about market noise.

It means responsibility—real responsibility—not just to grow wealth, but to protect it, guide it, and sometimes tell people what they don’t want to hear.

When you’re managing this kind of capital, you're not just in the business of finance.
You’re in the business of trust.

That kind of work takes energy. And truthfully, it’s what’s pulled me away from writing as often as I used to. But I never want to stop documenting this journey, because it’s what keeps me grounded in the why behind the work.

Growth Isn’t Just Financial

If you had asked me three years ago what success looked like, I would’ve said numbers.

Income. Assets under management. Client count.

But lately, growth has looked more personal.

I’ve started seeing someone.
It’s early, but it feels right. Grounded. Steady.
She’s thoughtful, curious, and has no problem challenging me when I get too deep into my own head (which, let’s be honest, happens often in this line of work).

Balancing this new relationship with the demands of managing over $8 million hasn’t been easy—but it’s reminded me that wealth without connection is empty.

Sometimes we get so caught up in building financial freedom that we forget to build lives worth living.
I don’t want to make that mistake.

What I’ve Learned So Far

In the whirlwind of the last few months, here are a few lessons that keep echoing:

  • Every dollar represents trust. When someone gives you money to manage, they’re giving you access to their future. That’s sacred.

  • The pressure doesn’t go away with more money—it gets sharper. But that pressure can shape you if you stay present with it.

  • You don’t grow by doing more. You grow by doing what matters. I’ve had to say no to some opportunities in order to protect what I’ve built.

  • Even the most disciplined advisor needs rest, laughter, and time away from the spreadsheet. Especially if he wants to keep doing this for the long haul.

Moving Forward

This blog started as a way to track the process—no guarantees, no shortcuts, just the raw truth of building something from nothing.

It still is.

The stakes are higher now. The silence has been longer. But I’m still here. Still learning. Still showing up.

And if you’ve been following along—even quietly—thank you.
There’s more to come.
